Ya. This is gonna be one of those rare blog entries where I explain everything as oppose to just cryptic messages.
Jan 24, 2004 was Linkin Park's Meteora tour arriving in Toronto. Got tickets to them sometime in December curtasy of a few friends; Roberta and Kenny. Got myself some floor seats (aka the pit). Subway-ed down to the ACC and took a while before I found the Harvey's I was suppose to wait for Eugene and Kenny at. They were late and lost and so, after half an hour, I left and went inside. Eventually met up with Kenny (Eugene didn't get floor seats and hence I actually never got to see him the entire day) before the concert started.
Storyoftheyear was first. Not bad. I've never heard of them before but their songs were alright. The entire band was very energetic with the whole headbanging thing. LOL. I was so surprised so little people showed up. I thought that was it. (this was my first concert every so... i didn't know) But Roberta enlightened me to the fact that this was only cuz some people only want to see the main venue and not the starting bands. And ya, eventually, the entire place filled up.
Then came Hooberstank. I liked it. But I dunno. I didn't like it as much as Storyoftheyear. And I have heard of Hooberstank and actually have a few of their songs. Odd. Nothing really special but alright. Then POD came on. They really sucked. Maybe it was me, but I thought the crowd was extra loud for POD but I didn't like them at all. Except for two songs I've heard of before, everything else I didn't know and didn't like. It was very much just guitar chords in the background with the lead singer talking. It wasn't even singing. Just talking. The only redeeming factor was that the lead singer stopped the gig when he saw some guy in the front of the crowd that got hurt. He got security to help him. That was nice. And they also ended with the song 'Alive' which was cool. Otherwise, they weren't very good.
THEN came LINKIN PARK! AW man. The second the curtain dropped, it was just one amazing song after another. And yes, I knew all the words to every song they played. LOL. I was moshing a lot, yelling and singing along until I lost my voice but still continued to sing. It was great! I was hot and sweaty and tired by the end though. And STUPID TALL PEOPLE! Omg. These two tall guys kept blocking my view. And poor Roberta, this guy who musta been the tallest guy in the concert just so happens to show up RIGHT in front of her. And he kept looking back at her giving her this satisfying smile. Roberta so shoulda gave him the finger. Cuz he wasn't even nodding or tapping or anything to the music. He just stood there like a pole! GAH. But eventually some nice couple let Roberta in front of them so she could see. And then there was the guy that walked pass me with a bloody eyebrow. His piercing musta got ripped off. Ouch. Anyways, back to the amazing parts. :D I wished it would never end. At one point, they left (only as an act I learned afterwards) and said that was it for the night. And everyone was chanting "encore!" and they came back out. And then there was that other thing when they were gonna do 'Faint' and they got someone from the crowd to play the guitar. The guy just so happens to also be called Alex. GO ALEX! :D He was good too. Kept up, did the whole dancing and acted like he was part of the band. He even got to sit up on stage at the back for the rest of the concert and got to go backstage after. Lucky bastard. And then there was also the wave. While we were waiting for Linkin Park to start, the crowd in the stands did the wave a few times. That was very cool.
More bitching. The security were soooo strict with cameras. They saw Kenny's digital camera half way though and they confascated it. WTF. Or like when Roberta tired to get in with McDonald's (her dinner)... they made her throw it away and she hadn't even taken a bite of it yet! Bah.
Anyways.
All in all, I am sooo glad Linkin Park is my first official concert ever. Very fun. I got myself a t-shirt too :) Too bad they can't pirate t-shirts ;) j/k. It'd be cool if they recorded the concert and put it on a CD like the Live in Texas CD.
So ya. FUN. Linkin Park is SOOO GOODDDDDD...... :D
